Isobel DobsonPolice have confirmed that 2-year-old Isobel June Dobson from South Elmsall died last night following a fire at Hessle Farm, Wragby (Wragby is between Wakefield and Docaster)

Police had been called to reports of barn fire at the property around 5.30pm yesterday (30th Sept). On arrival two barns were ablaze as well as a van that was parked nearby.

Isobel and her 1-year-old step sister were in the van when the fire broke out and despite efforts by her 37-year-old stepfather and mother they were only able to rescue the 1-year-old girl before being beaten back by the flames and injured.

The family, including the girl’s 22-year-old mum, had been at the farm tending to a horse before the fire broke out.

After receiving overnight treatment at Pinderfields Hospital the 37-year-old man and 1-year-old girl have been discharged and the family have asked the media to respect their privacy at this very difficult time.

A joint investigation is ongoing between the police and fire service to establish the exact circumstances leading to the fire.
