Police are appealing for information following an assault in Selby.
It occurred on Leeds Road, near to Selby High School, on Saturday 4 June 2011 at around 10.30pm when a 22-year-old local woman was walking alone.
The attacker approached the victim from behind hitting her on the back of the head, knocking her to the ground, before punching her several times to the face and stomach. The assault resulted in a black eye and bruising which did not require medical attention.
Police Constable Lauren Harper, of Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This was an unprovoked attack which naturally left the victim not only with injuries to her face but also feeling distressed.
“I urge anyone who witnessed the assault to come forward straight away as I need to speak to them.
“I also ask that if anyone has any information at all about the offender or saw the victim in the area at the time, that they get in touch with me as soon as possible.”
