A 61-year-old man is due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court on 28 June 2011 charged with possessing an air weapon with intent to endanger life.
It relates to an incident at an address on Fairfax Avenue in Harrogate at about 8.45pm on Thursday 9 June 2011.
A police officer had suspected the man had been driving whilst under the influence of alcohol. When approached by the officer at the address, the man allegedly made a threat with an air weapon and then went back inside the house.
Due to the nature of the incident, armed response officers were called to the scene to assist with the arrest.
The man was arrested without further incident at 9.40pm. He was charged in relation to the alleged firearms offence.
The investigation into the suspected drink-driving is ongoing.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
