Selby police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was killed on the old A1 near Brotherton.
The victim, who is believed to be a 46-year-old woman from the Hemsworth area of West Yorkshire, was hit by two cars at around 7.05pm on Tuesday 18 January 2011.
She had been walking along the slip road of the A162 southbound carriageway at the junction with the A1246, when she was struck by a white Audi A3 and a blue Peugeot 206.
The ambulance service, who alerted police to the incident, treated the woman, however she was pronounced dead at the scene.
We are not yet in a position to identify the deceased.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward and help with their enquiries.
Traffic Constable Alison Travis of Tadcaster Road Policing Group, said: “It is vital to the investigation that anyone who witnessed the incident contacts the police with any information they may have.
“I would also appeal to anyone who saw the woman prior to the incident to get in touch.
“It was fairly early in the evening, therefore there is a good chance that people will have seen the woman before the incident or the collision itself.”
