86-year-old in serious condition following collision on Wetherby Road in Harrogate

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious two-vehicle collision in Harrogate.

The incident occurred at 3.35pm on Saturday (28 July 2018) on  Wetherby Road at the junction with Railway Road by the Sainsbury’s traffic lights.

It involved a white Mini Cooper which was travelling on Wetherby Road towards Harrogate and a small white VW Up which was using the junction.

The 61-year-old woman driver of the Mini, from Thorp Arch, suffered slight injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

 

 

The driver of the VW, an 86-year-old woman from from Bardsey, was taken to Leeds General infirmary where she was admitted with serious leg, arm and internal injuries. Her condition is described as “serious but stable”.

The scene was clear by 6.35pm.

Officers are investigating investigating the collision and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or recall seeing either vehicle prior to the incident.
