After a rigorous selection process including written applications, formal interviews, hustings and presentations, Harrogate Grammar School are delighted to announce the appointment of Achele Agada, Sophie Morrison, Peter Rouse and Jem Reaney as Head Students.
Issy Murray, Esther Fenwick, Eddie Mills and Millie Hope have successfully been appointed as Deputies. With a break to convention of the traditional Head Boy and Head Girl roles, Harrogate Grammar has appointed four Head Students to lead a study body of nearly 2000 students.
Each Head Student will take on different leadership role, supported by a Deputy, to successfully deliver mentoring, enrichment, student voice and other projects in school.
Head Student Sophie said:
We are honoured to have this leadership opportunity.
Peter said:
we want to inspire younger students in the way that previous students inspired us.
The school has a long tradition of providing leadership opportunities and these are highly regarded positions within the school community.
Associate Headteacher, Neil Renton, said:
All the students who applied performed extremely well. Our new leadership structure gives more opportunities for our students to genuinely lead projects and our gender-neutral roles reflect leadership in the modern work place.
The successful applicants showed a real strength of character, an ability to lead others and I am confident that they will make a significant contribution as young leaders in our school.
