Today 250 Junior soldiers (16 and 17 year-olds) formally marked the completion of their first 6 weeks of basic training at the Army Foundation College, Uniake Baracks on Penny Pot Lane in Harrogate – 12April 2018.
Around 800 friends and family also attended to watch. It was a significant day as the last time they would have seen them was when they entered the college.
Family watched a presentation on the basic training before being taken to a very foggy parade square. Waterloo Company proudly marched out before an inspection by Major Chris Lamb.
Mayor Chris Lamb, Officer Commanding Waterloo Company, said:
Today formally marks the completion of the 6-weeks basic training. During that time they have had a taste of everything at the College, but it is now time for them to go home for a weeks break – many of them will be very tired.
