A month of music is being launched to raise money for Martin House Hospice Care for Children and Young People as it encourages people to hold their own concerts.
Music for Martin House takes place throughout May, and is a new fundraising venture for the hospice, which supports children and young people with life-limiting conditions.
It is asking bands, choirs, schools and individuals to organise a music concert which will raise money to support its work.
Chris Verney, community fundraiser, said:
Music brings people together – something we see at Martin House when our music therapists work with our children to help them create and experience music.
We want to bring people together to enjoy an evening of the music they love, while supporting Martin House.
Events can range from gig and concerts to open mic nights and recitals, taking place in local venues.
Supporters can raise money from takings on the door, raffles, bucket collections and donations – there are no targets and events can be any size and style.
Organisers are only asked to use the Music for Martin House logo on their publicity, and share the event with Martin House.
Chris added:
It doesn’t matter what size event you hold, or how much you raise, it’s about creating a movement, a shared experience under the banner of Music for Martin House.
Martin House offers respite care to children and young people with life-shortening conditions from throughout West, North and East Yorkshire, as well as support in their own homes.
