Disability Action Yorkshire has launched its new website with a distinct feature allowing disabled people to share their individual stories with the world.
The website has been tailor-made for the Harrogate charity by digital marketing company, HMA, which specialise in creating websites and apps for clients in the healthcare, science and technology sectors.
The new site has been specifically designed for disabled people, those who support a disabled person and volunteers, and one of new functions is the “share your story” in the “how we have made a difference?”
The aim is to encourage visitors to upload personal stories about their experiences of disability and, in particular, certain episodes whether they have been treated either well, or not so well.
Additionally, the website gives visitors up-to-date information on a variety of subjects, including services provided by Disability Action Yorkshire, training, residential care, the Own Goals buddying initiative and assistive technology.

This is our 80th year and one of our major achievements is the launch of our new website, where disabled people are very much front of mind.
We spoke to a number website companies about our requirements, and HMA had a clear understanding of what we wanted in terms look, feel and functionality.
We are delighted with it and have received countless positive comments from end users, including many of our customers.
One element we are keen to see used is the ‘share your story’ feature. We want to hear from disabled people, carers and volunteers about their experiences, be it good or bad.
This will enable us to build up a better picture of the challenges facing disabled people on a daily basis, and, whenever possible, help change the way people and businesses behave.
Additionally, we will also be able to celebrate when a disabled person has had a positive experience, which we believe is equally important.”
