Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision which occured at around 6pm Tuesday 1 August 2017 on the A6055 between Minskip and Ferrensby.
A black Mazda MX-5 was travelling from Minskip in the direction of Knaresborough, when it left the road and collided with a telegraph pole.
Paramedics treated the driver, a 54-year-old man from Harrogate at the scene and he was taken by air ambulance to Harrogate District Hospital, where sadly he later died.
The A6055 was closed to allow collision investigators to carry out a full investigation, to determine the circumstances around the incident. The road reopened at 11.20pm.
Officers are appealing for anyone who was travelling along the A6055 at the time, who may have seen the black Mazda MX-5 travelling towards Knaresborough prior to the collision, or anyone who has any information which would assist the investigation to contact them on 101, select option 2 and ask to speak to the Major Collision Investigation Team.
