Harrogate Railway Ladies played host to Altofts Ladies this week and again failed to bag any points.
In the first half Railway were certainly looking like a team that wanted to win, unlike last week, putting great pressure onto the Altofts defence many a time unfortunately Railway are missing a naturel striker who can finish in front of goal.
It was on the 29th Minute when Altofts went one up with a fine move down the middle and just beating the outstretched hand of Rails keeper, Vicky Beaty, 0-1. Rails heads didn’t go down and very quickly had the ball up the other end but still couldn’t find the net.
On the 44th Minute Altofts won a corner which was cleared only for another to be awarded, this happened 5 times, much to the bemusement of the railway management, and with 49 minutes played the fifth corner went in,0-2, and half time at last.
Railway were unfortunate to be 2 down at half time, they were playing well and had a positive look about them, new girl Leanne Court, had a great game at full back and with a bit more fitness she will be a great asset to the team.
Railway still had a lot of individual errors, small but all together it creates chances for the opposition and in this league most take their chances, this proved so and Altofts went 0-5 up by the 80th minute.
Railway kept on working and on the 83rd minute a great run from Laura Savage (player off the match) found a pass to Zarah Avila who crossed in to the feet of Sandra (sonic) Clarke to drive the ball home for a conciliation goal.
Another disappointing defeat for the Railway Ladies but on the bright side they looked something like the team from last season for most of the match.
