Are you a whizz with a whisk? Do you know your tuiles from your tartes?
To celebrate the start of the 2016 series of Great British Bake Off, local charity, the Harrogate Easier Living Project (HELP) is encouraging people to make cake for cash by holding their own ‘bake off’ in aid of the charity.
Workplaces, social groups and organisations are great places to hold a bake sale and a very easy way of raising money for your nominated charity.
Lizzie Hughes, Project Development Worker at HELP, said:
It is estimated that £185m was raised in 2014 for charity in bake sales alone, many of which were inspired by the popular TV series. Whether you’re a complete novice or a budding Nadiya Hussain, anyone can have a go at making a cake and raising money for charity. The series begins on Wednesday 24 August and runs for 10 weeks until the end of October so there’s plenty of time to plan and hold your Bake Off!
Anyone interested in holding a Bake Off in aid of HELP can contact Lizzie or Anna on 01423 813090 or email help@harcvs.org.uk for ideas and inspiration for your fundraiser.
