The Marie Curie Ripon Fundraising Group held its Blooming Great Tea Party at Littlethorpe Village Hall on Wednesday 6th July and raised an amazing £520.
Marie Curie have given huge thanks to all of the group members who organised the tea party, the venue and everyone who supported the event.
The money was raised through donations and selling homemade cakes.
All money raised from the Blooming Great Tea party will help Marie Curie nurses to provide more free care to people living with a terminal illness in their own homes. Marie Curie provides expert care, guidance and support to help people get the most from the time they have left together.
It costs £20 to provide an hour of nursing care, so the money raised at this event will fund over 26 hours of care.
Hannah Saxon, Community Fundraiser explained:
Since the Ripon Fundraising Group formed they have raised over £32,907, which is absolutely incredible and means that Marie Curie can reach more people and provide local services free of charge. We were delight that Damaris a local Marie Curie Nurse was able to come along to support the event and talk about how she supports terminally ill people and their families in the area.
Liz Tite, Ripon Fundraising Group Chair said:
The tea party was an opportunity to thank our supporters who volunteer their time throughout the year, but also give everyone an opportunity to meet Damaris and hear about the nursing support that she gives to patients and their families, and learn how she connects with District Nurses and surgeries in the area.
