North Yorkshire County Council will undertake remedial work in Harrogate on the A59 Skipton Road at the Claro Road junction to repair patches of resurfacing that have deteriorated after major works last year.
The work is necessary to maintain the durability and skid resistance of the road surface and will be undertaken at no additional expense to the county’s taxpayers. The cost will be borne by the sub-contractor which undertook the original work.
The works are currently programmed to commence on 4 July 2016 and last for 4 nights between the hours of 19:00hrs and 00:00hrs. They will entail:
the closure of Claro Road from the junction of the A59 Skipton Road to the Junction with Devonshire Place
the diversion of traffic from Claro Road to the A59 via Devonshire Place and Coach Road which will be covered by a parking restriction during the scheme working period
County Councillor Don Mackenzie, North Yorkshire’s Executive Member for Highways said:
We apologise for the inconvenience this work may cause, but it is necessary for the safety of the highway at this junction. We will be repairing those patches which have deteriorated since the work was completed last year. The work is being carried out in the evening when the road is less busy to minimise disruption.
Letters have been sent out to affected residents and businesses and contractors will be on site to assist people with issues of vehicular access to local properties. Pedestrians will have access at all times.
People with special access needs are urged to contact the County Council’s customer resolution centre on 016909 780780
