Following a hugely popular evening of music and entertainment at the Royal Hall in March, schools from the Harrogate and Rural Teaching Alliance this week presented cheques to two local charities supporting children and young people. Stray FM’s Will Smith who co-hosted the concert with Nick Hancock, was on hand to assist the children with the presentation.
Now in its second successful year, the concert featured children from Killinghall CE Primary, Beckwithshaw Primary, Scotton Lingerfield Primary, Pannal Primary, Spofforth CE Primary, All Saints CE Primary, and Follifoot CE Primary.
The event this year raised over £2,900 which will be shared by Martin House Hospice Care for Children and Young People in Boston Spa and Saint Michael’s Hospice. The funds for Saint Michael’s were specifically raised to support the charity’s Just ‘B’ service, which offers bereavement and emotional wellbeing support for children, young people and adults across the Harrogate district.

All of the children taking part in this year’s concert should be very proud of their achievements. A heartfelt thank you goes to all who supported the event and helped to raise funds for these two worthy local causes.

We are enormously grateful to all the children and staff for their hard work over the past months and their impressive performance on the night. Raising almost £1,500 for each charity is a fantastic achievement and all of the children involved should be proud that they have done so much to support other children and young people in their area.

We would like to congratulate each and every one of the students and staff involved in this brilliant concert and amazing fundraising effort.
Their support is helping us to be able to extend our bereavement support services further into the community, as well as develop a wider emotional wellbeing service for other children and young people across the district.
The aim of this work is to support more children, young people and adults to live healthier and happier futures. The work Just ‘B’ is currently doing in schools throughout North Yorkshire is part of these efforts.
