Harrogate schoolboy stars with cricket greats

10 June 2016

A 12-year-old Harrogate schoolboy selected as an England mascot has become the star of a humorous video alongside Yorkshire and England fast bowler Liam Plunkett and ex-England great Darren Gough.

The video, featuring Harry Dawson, a pupil of Ashville College, will be screened at England test matches during 2016 as well as Yorkshire CCC home matches.

A teaser of the film was shown at the opening test match against Sri Lanka, the day Harry stepped onto the famous Headingley ground as England mascot.

The video is the work of Harrogate Spring, the official water of both England Cricket and Yorkshire CCC. The 90-second film follows Harry’s journey to Headingley Stadium and also that of a bottle of Harrogate Spring from source to stadium.

Darren Gough is seen driving a Harrogate Spring van, while Liam Plunkett is united with Harry and the bottle of water as he walks out onto the Headingley ground.

Harry is already an accomplished all-rounder as a leg spinner and top order batsman. He is captain of his school team and has been selected to represent both North Yorkshire Schools and Yorkshire Schools.

Harrogate Spring marketing manager Nicky Cain said:

Harry is a young man of great character and determination who loves his cricket. He is a great ambassador for his school and North Yorkshire Schools’ Cricket Association. We are very proud to have him batting for Harrogate Spring as he rubs shoulders with Liam Plunkett and Darren Gough in our video.
