Marie Curie’s Ripon Fundraising Group is gearing up to stage a tea-riffic communi-tea Blooming Great Tea Party at Littlethorpe Village Hall, Littlethorpe, Ripon, HG4 3LH on Wednesday 6 July between 2.30 and 4.30pm.
The tea party will raise vital funds so that the Charity can continue to provide care and support for people living with a terminal illness and provide the opportunity to meet a local Marie Curie nurse to understand more about the role.
The event is open to anyone who is keen to support the charity and the fundraising group is hoping to attract up to 100 people. Attendees will be invited to make a donation on arrival. The tea party will begin with an introduction from Community Fundraiser, Hannah Saxon, followed by an overview of the Charity from a Marie Curie nurse before tea and homemade cakes are served.
Liz Tite, Chair of the Ripon Fundraising Group, has been an avid supporter of Marie Curie for many years and played an instrumental role in setting up the Group in October 2011.
Liz explained: “My husband’s younger daughter, Erica Tite, sadly lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 27 back in 1998 and was cared for by Marie Curie nurses, so I’ve long had an affinity with the Charity. Having taken part in The National Garden Scheme’s gardens open for charity event for many years (Marie Curie is a major beneficiary each year), we decided to link up with Marie Curie which then led to the launch of the Ripon Fundraising Group. Our Blooming Great Tea Party was a resounding success last year but we’re confident that we’ll generate even more money this year!”
Recent fundraising highlights from the Ripon Fundraising Group include:
- 2015 goat walk – £3,202
- 2015 Blooming Great Tea Party at Field Cottage £1,421
- 2016 London Marathon (Major Richard Grieve) – £640
