Cambian Group, one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist care and education, has acquired Spring Hill School, a specialist day and residential school near Ripon, North Yorkshire.
With significant investment Cambian will transform the now renamed Cambian Spring Hill School to better fulfil the individual needs of students and staff. Cambian Spring Hill School will provide quality education and care for students with autism who also have associated complex needs and challenging behaviour. Cambian has extensive experience in specialist education for children with autism, and pupils from Ripon and the wider Yorkshire area will benefit from a model of education and care aligned to Cambian’s special education school, Purbeck View School in Dorset. The investment will allow students to access valuable resources, such as the support of a dedicated therapy team.
The business intend to retain the 63 staff members who currently work at the School, so helping maintain the school’s values and links with the local community. Further investment in staff training and development will enhance staff skills in educating and caring for challenging students.
Barnardo’s East Region Director Steve Oversby said:
We are very pleased that Cambian Group will be able to provide continuity for the students and their families. We’re also pleased that the staff who have worked so hard over the years will carry on working in the school – we’d like to thank them all for the dedication and commitment they have shown to the school, its students and Barnardo’s.
Anne Marie Carrie, CEO of Cambian Group’s Children’s services said:
This is a very exciting time for Cambian as we expand our network of leading specialist education services across the UK. We look forward to building on the work achieved by students and staff at the school and are committed to ensuring that every young person in our care achieves their personal best.
