Harrogate Homeless Project (HHP) raised £3,385 from a collection in the Victoria Shopping Centre last week. Staff and volunteers from HHP were on hand throughout the week to talk to the public about how the charity helps homeless people back accommodation and employment.
HHP Chief Executive, Liz Hancock, commented:
Running a 16 bed hostel, ‘move on’ accommodation and a daily drop-in lunch service is an expensive business. But the benefits are plain to see; homeless people and people with chaotic lifestyles supported so that they can gain new skills, attend interviews and get jobs.
Many people tell me how HHP has changed their lives forever and helped them break out of the cycle of homelessness and dependency. Every penny the public so generously gave at the Victoria Shopping Centre will be used to continue changing people’s lives for the better.
