Harrogate High School is once again celebrating excellent A Level results across the board. For the second year in a row, more than half (52%) of the grades achieved by Year 13 were at A* to B and the overall pass rate stands at 99%. The outstanding teaching and learning in the sixth form, recognised by Ofsted at their last inspection, and the hard work of the students, has produced results that mean a high proportion of students have been accepted at their first choice higher education institution.
There has been a significant increase in the number of students from Harrogate High moving on to universities around the country with some very strong individual performances. 100% of the students applying to university have received one or more offers for a range of courses that include bio-chemistry, natural science, engineering, physical education, sports science, sports therapy, events management, mental health nursing, interior design, fashion, art, English, business management, economics, nursing, performing arts and philosophy. Students who did particularly well include Alia Khalid who achieved an incredible five A/A* grades winning herself a place at the University of Cambridge to read Philosophy, Connor Hebblethwaite who will go on to study economics at the University of Sheffield and Emma Poulter who will study Learning Disability Nursing at the University of East Anglia.
Academy Head, Ann Francis, praised the students and staff, saying:
Our A Level students have done very well and my sincere congratulations go to everyone involved. We are very pleased with the levels achieved across all courses and, of course, we wish all Year 13 students every success for their future studies and training. As a year group they have made a significant contribution to our school as a whole.

This year we are celebrating a high proportion of successful UCAS applications. We have maintained our reputation for achieving excellent A Level results and the pass rate at the higher grades does reflect the hard work of our students, staff and the vital support that our parents provide. We have achieved these results by providing a relevant curriculum including strong vocational subjects and students have benefited from the small class sizes across our Sixth Form.
