Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust (YAS) is making a major investment in newly-designed vehicles to its Patient Transport Service (PTS) fleet.
The non-emergency PTS offers vital support to patients. It provides transport for those who are unable to use public or other transport due to their medical condition, enabling them to attend essential medical appointments; receive life-saving treatments such as chemotherapy or renal dialysis; as well as being admitted to or discharged from hospital wards.
The new vehicles, built by Oughtred & Harrison (O&H) Vehicle Conversions in Goole, will improve both patient safety and comfort, with additional features to support patients’ needs. These include adjustable suspension for a smoother ride and contrasting handles and grab rails to aid visibility. The vehicles are also more environmentally friendly, with improved CO2 emissions.

Over 100 purpose-built Peugeot Boxer vehicles will be introduced to PTS across the region in the coming months, with the first eight vehicles in operation this week.
