Former BBC Apprentice star Claire Young met Apprentices of a different kind at a recent Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust graduation ceremony.
The entrepreneur and guest speaker, who came second in series four of the reality programme, congratulated the Apprentices who attended the event at the Hilton Hotel in Leeds on Friday 5 June 2015.
The ceremony celebrated the success of 103 YAS Apprentices who have completed Level 2 in Cleaning and Support, Customer Services, Warehousing and Storage, Information, Communication and Technology, Accountancy, Business Administration and Health Care Support Services.
Chief Executive Rod Barnes, who attended the event with YAS Chairman Ms Della M Cannings QPM, said:
We are rightly proud of all of our Apprentices as they play a significant part in the delivery of high quality care to our patients.
Our Apprentices demonstrate the values we aspire to every day through their commitment to learning, developing their skills and the care and compassion they evidence as part of the Apprenticeship Scheme.
Our Apprenticeship Graduation Ceremony marked the significant achievement of a learning journey in which they achieved a fully-accredited qualification and gained invaluable skills and knowledge.
The ceremony, which was sponsored by YH Training Group, aimed to demonstrate that Apprenticeships are just as valid as the university route to success, with the highest levels equivalent to a bachelor’s degree or even a master’s degree.
Launched by YAS in 2009, our Apprenticeship Scheme provides individuals with full basic training, on-the-job mentorship, job-specific skills and a range of qualifications within an Apprenticeship Framework, which is delivered in partnership with YH Training Services Ltd.
So far, around 200 apprentices have completed the Apprenticeship Scheme, 80% of whom have gone on to secure employment with YAS in a range of departments including A&E Operations, our non-emergency Patient Transport Service, Estates and Patient Relations.
