Two childhood pals have decided to put their friendship to the test by navigating the Saint Michael’s Colour Rush course, at Ripley on 21 June 2015, as a three-legged team.
Philip Martin, of Killinghall, and Stewart Cummings, of Boroughbridge, are both 38 and have been firm friends for 34 years. They contacted Saint Michael’s to see if they could add an extra twist to their Colour Rush experience.
Graphic designer Phil said he is confident their friendship will endure the 5k challenge, adding:
We have been through much worse and still kept smiling.
HR Business partner Stew added:
I’m looking forward to being strapped to my mate as we hobble round, having a great day out with our families and getting a huge sense of achievement supporting a great cause.
Saint Michael’s Colour Rush is proving extremely popular and places are filling up fast.
But anyone still wanting to take part in Harrogate’s brightest, happiest community 5k is urged to get a rush on, as registration closes this Friday, 12 June 2015.
The non-competitive run, which is sponsored by Engage Mutual Assurance, involves participants being doused with colour every kilometre. An added feature this year is the introduction of optional, fun obstacles between paint stations. The Academy Health Club and Spa, SkyeBlue Cleaners and FunCare Ltd will be there to throw paint and run obstacle points.
Entry is £20 per person, Under 16s £10 and free for under fives. Entrants receive a free goodie bag with extra paint, a drink and snack.
Colour-Rushers are urged to raise as much sponsorship as possible for Saint Michael’s, the charity that supports people in the Harrogate District living with terminal illness and bereavement.
