Police investigating the death of an elderly woman in Sharow are appealing for help to trace her final movements.
Helen Margaret Holdsworth, aged 87, from Dishforth, was killed in a road traffic collision on Dishforth Road at 5.30pm on Thursday 6 January 2011.
Officers are trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding her death and are appealing to the public to help piece together where she was and what she was doing in the hours leading up to the collision. Traffic Constable Andy Macleod, of Harrogate Road Policing Group, said: “It is vital to the investigation that people come forward with information about Mrs Holdsworth’s movements prior to the collision on Thursday 6 January 2011. “We know that she was in Ripon, possibly around 10am, and we would like to hear from anyone who saw her or had any contact with her during the day.”

Police are now in a position to release the identity of an 87-year-old woman who died as the result of a road traffic collision at Sharow on Thursday 6 January 2011.
She has been named as Helen Margaret Holdsworth (she was known as Margaret), aged 87, from Dishforth.
The inquest into her death was opened and adjourned today (Tuesday 11 January 2011).
Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman was killed in a road traffic collision in Ripon.
The incident occurred at around 5.30pm on Thursday 6 January 2011 on Dishforth Road at Sharow, when a blue Nissan Micra heading towards Dishforth collided with three vehicles travelling in the opposite direction. The driver of the Nissan, an 87-year-old woman from Dishforth, was seriously injured in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are keen for anyone who was travelling along Dishforth Road at the time of the collision to contact them with any information that could help the investigation.
Traffic Constable Andy Macleod, of Harrogate Road Policing Group, said: “It is vital that anyone who witnessed the collision or was on the road at the time gets in touch with the police as soon as possible. “It is believed that there was a line of traffic travelling towards Sharow at the time of the incident.
