In Hog Heaven! Piglets Coffee House and Sandwich Bar owner, Nicholas Allan

Harrogate businessman in hog heaven with opening of town’s newest coffee shop

1 December 2014

A Harrogate businessman who ran a popular town centre sandwich bar for more over a decade is in hog heaven after opening his latest catering venture!

Nicholas Allan, the former owner of Hetty Gray’s, has just opened Piglets Coffee House and Sandwich Bar, at 4 Bower Street, adding to the town’s rich mix of tea and coffee shops.

Piglets, which is located on a busy routs into the centre of the spa town, offers both a takeout and eat in menu, ranging from bacon sandwiches and full English breakfasts, through to lunchtime sandwiches and snacks, salads, cakes, treats and fresh coffees and tea.

Mr Allan took the name Piglets from a painting by young, local artist, Vick Frost, which now hangs above the food counter.

Mr Allan said: After a two year break from the catering business I was itching to get back into it, and, when Angels Café become available, I jumped at the chance.

It’s in a great location, on a busy route into town for workers and shoppers with constant footfall all day long.

We aim to provide a wide selection of coffees and food, which customers can either take out or enjoy whilst relaxing in our ‘lounge’.

It is a different proposition to Hetty Gray’s, but one that I feel will appeal to a wide range of customers.

We will be open from just after 7am each morning, and be open right through to late afternoon. And, in the run up to Christmas, Piglets will be open seven days a week.
