Talented singer/songwriter, and eco ambassador, James King will be belting out his environmental message to pupils, parents and staff at a North Yorkshire school in an exclusive live concert next month. (Monday 3 November 2014)
The 20-year-old performer, who has just returned from a 10-date tour of Russia where he has been playing to packed stadiums of 28,000 people each night, is returning to his Yorkshire roots to perform at Belmont Grosvenor School.
Earlier this year, the independent prep school, just three miles from Harrogate, was awarded a highly-coveted Green Flag by the international Eco-Schools programme, which recognises schools that make sustainability an integral part of daily life.
Singer James, who has cousins at Belmont Grosvenor School, has been touring the UK, visiting Eco Schools up and down the country performing his special eco-song ‘Breathe’ to pupils to inspire them to continue their important environmental work.
James, who left Harrogate to study music in London before graduating earlier this year, said: I believe we can all be what we want to be and make that difference and make a change to benefit others, and more importantly to change the way we live.
I’m looking forward to coming up to Belmont Grosvenor School, where pupils have already done so much great environmental work and have won Green Flag status.
As well as singing ‘Breathe’ I’ll be treating everyone to a really special evening, with other songs from my new EP, it will be a very different show to what I have done in the rest of the tour, especially for Belmont Grosvenor.
His concert is planned for Monday 3 November in the school hall – and pupils are already learning the words to ‘Breathe’ so they can sing along.
Originally written by Australian singer/songwriter Luc Floreani, proceeds from the single helped secure thousands of acres of the Amazon rainforest.
Jane Merriman, Headteacher at Belmont Grosvenor School, said she was delighted James was able to visit school: Our children have a real affinity with their environment and a strong moral sense of looking after their planet so to be able to meet and to sing along with James King as he performs his eco song, Breathe, will be an amazing opportunity and truly memorable.
I am sure this will become the anthem for our Eco Team at BGS.
