Detectives have now charged a 40-year-old man from Harrogate with the murder of Mark Leslie John Berney, aged 44, from Knaresborough.
The charge – made at 12.28am today, Wednesday 6 August – relates to an incident at Ripley, Harrogate, at around 9.30pm on Sunday 3 August 2014.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court this morning.
The man charged will be named following his appearance in Court.
