Wanted York man

1 July 2014

York police are urging the public to help them locate a wanted man.

Lee Simpson, aged 33, is wanted by for failing to attend York Crown Court to answer a burglary charge.

He was due to stand trial on Monday 30 June 2014, for a break-in at York Working Men’s Club on Bootham Crescent in May.

He is also wanted in connection with a burglary at a property on Upper Newborough Street earlier this month.

Simpson is described as white, around 6ft 1in tall, with a medium build, and short brown hair.

He is believed to be in the Clifton area of York and officers are appealing to people to look out for him and contact the police or Crimestoppers if they see anyone matching his description.

Detective Sergeant Lee Boyeson, of York Priority Crime Team, said: Lee, if you see or hear this appeal, I urge you to hand yourself in straight away. You are not doing yourself any favours by remaining at large and you are only delaying the inevitable.

We will keep looking and it is only a matter of time before we catch up with you and put you back before the court.

We have already visited a number of addresses in the Clifton area, and will keep doing so until we find Simpson or he hands himself in.
I am urging anyone who sees Simpson or knows where he is to get in touch with the police immediately.

Anyone who has seen Lee Simpson or knows his whereabouts should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 1 – and pass information to the Force Control Room.
If you prefer not to give your name, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
