Designers invited to help mark shop’s fifth birthday

19 May 2014

Amateur artists are being given the chance to be part of a thriving business’s anniversary celebrations – by designing a celebratory bag.
Knitting business baa ram ewe, based on Cold Bath Road in Harrogate, will be celebrating five successful years of trading in June. It opened its first shop in Leeds in 2009 and has just marked its first anniversary in Harrogate, after moving in to Cold Bath Road in spring 2013.
To mark the occasion, it is inviting anyone with a creative idea to produce a new design for the baa ram ewe cotton tote bag.

Verity Britton, who founded baa ram ewe in 2009, said: It’s hard to believe we’re approaching our fifth anniversary – the time has flown and so much has happened since we first opened.
Our philosophy has always been that anyone can get involved with knitting and creativity, and this competition reflects that. It’s open to everyone, whether they’re already a design whizz or they just fancy having a go.
Our bags are used around the world – wherever baa ram ewe products are found – so this is a great opportunity to make a real impact with a design.

As well as having their design printed on thousands of bags over the next year, the winner will be given bags to hand out to friends and family, along with a baa ram ewe hamper of goodies for themselves.

Katherine Johnson of baa ram ewe, who is organising the competition, said: We’re really looking forward to seeing the entries for this competition.
Knowing our customers, we expect them to be highly creative and all very different – and we hope to get lots of ideas from the wider community as well. Something tells me the judging process is going to be very difficult.

Entries must use the baa ram ewe logo in some way and must be sent to Katherine Johnson (katherine@baaramewe.co.uk) by 31 May 2014. For the full terms and conditions of the competition, and to download the logo, visit www.baaramewe.co.uk
