Harrogate Grammar School’s Under 16 boy’s football team ended their school footballing careers on a high winning the Harrogate and Craven Area Cup in their last ever competitive fixture. The team, who prior to this win had never beaten a St. Aidan’s team from this year group in any of their previous fixtures over the last 5 years, brought home a convincing 4-0 victory in the match held at Harrogate Railway.
A first clean sheet of the season from goal keeper Jack Ellis and a ‘man of the match’ performance from defensive midfielder Chris Petty allowed Harrogate Grammar School’s attacking football to flourish in the second half. Four goals from four different scorers; James Sellers, Patrick Maughan, Rob Worrall and Alex Hudson showed just how deep Harrogate Grammar Schools quality ran in the squad.
Team Managers Mr J Taylor and Mr P Dutton have said: We are extremely proud of what the boys have achieved and it’s excellent to see such a talented group of really nice young men get the rewards they deserve for all their hard work over the course of this season and their time at school. They have been a pleasure to work with.
