A new website has launched to provide a central hub for community news in Harrogate district.
Harrogate News provides breaking news from the police, local authority and other sources as well as information about events in the town and stories of interest to the people who live there.
Covering Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon and the surrounding areas the site has been designed to be non profit making to enable it to be an objective and informative service to the community.
Harrogate News welcomes stories from local charities, schools and sports clubs as well as from businesses and events organisers.
Events and news items can be listed free of charge. Content is also being donated by experienced journalists including Jenni Moulson, former news reporter and Business Editor with the Harrogate Advertiser, and the Advertiser’s former Food and Drink Editor Ruth Badley, who will be reviewing local restaurants.
The site was the brainchild of photographer Tim Cook who has had a longstanding interest in photographing local events “As a member of the community I enjoy going along to events and taking an interest in what’s happening locally,” said Tim. “I realised there was a real need for a central hub of information where people could find out what was happening and could share news with each other.” He said he would like to hear from any schools, charities, sports clubs and other organisations who were interested in posting information on the site.
