High Street TV (HSTV) in Harrogate, the most dominant direct response presence on UK television, has been recognised by Disney for its multi channel approach at the inaugural Walt Disney Company UK & Ireland 2013 Licensee Awards, where it picked up Best Innovative Product of the Year Award for Stompeez. It was also nominated in the coveted New Licensee Award.

The ceremony took place on Wednesday night (22 January 2014) at a gala dinner held at the exclusive Hurlingham Club in London. Disney’s Mike Stagg, VP of Retail and Anna Hill, Chief Marketing Officer presented the trophy to Product Director Lisa Fawcett and Senior Category Manager for Kids Lisa Steane. The awards celebrate excellence in licensing for Disney.

Using its innovative multichannel model, HSTV has taken the much loved characters of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, 101 Dalmatians and Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc. from licensing to store in just five months to meet the demands of customers leading up to and during the Christmas period.

High Street TV sold 750,000 pairs of Stompeez in 2013, with an additional 250,000 pairs of Disney themed slippers in the last three months of the year, generating over £2.5 million of sales. These sales were generated from retail giants Argos and ASDA with the products also available in BHS, WH Smiths, Boots and other retail partners.

Commenting on the win Executive Chairman Andrew Malcher, said: We are thrilled to have been recognised by Disney and this award win clearly shows that our multi channel approach is helping to drive sales for leading retailers and established brands by ensuring consumers can buy products when and how they want. We now look forward to working with Disney to develop and add new characters to the range.

Lisa Fawcett, Product Director, added: “This award recognises the time, effort and sheer determination by the team at HSTV to work to tight deadlines which has resulted in delivering a successful product and contributing to positive sales.”
