Emergency services were called to The Ranch Caravan Park on Cliffe Common at 3.12am today (Sunday 1 December 2013) after a man was found unconscious in one of the caravans.
Paramedics made repeated attempts to revive the 23-year old man – he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Police enquiries remain ongoing at the caravan park as officers investigate the full circumstances surrounding the death.
The location has been cordoned off and members of the public are asked to keep away from the site at this time.
One of the lines of enquiry that the investigation team is examining was that the man was possibly assaulted on Saturday night or during the early hours of Sunday prior to going to bed.
Officers are urging witnesses to the assault to come forward without delay, or anyone with other information that could assist the investigation.
