Emergency services were called to the A59 near to Harrogate this morning (29 November 2013), at around 10:30am, following a three vehicle collision.
The collision involved a white Mercedes van, a light blue Toyota Prius and a green Vauxhall Astra.
It occurred at a junction on the A59/ Skipton road which was just past the Nelson Inn travelling towards Skipton.
Both the driver of the Toyota, a woman from Ripon, and the driver of the Vauxhall, a man aged 79 from Harrogate, were trapped needing to be cut from their vehicle by fire and rescue crews.
The occupants were transported to hospital via road and air ambulance suffering with head, chest, back and neck injuries.
It is not believed the driver of the Mercedes van was injured.
The road reopened at 12:15pm with all the vehicles needing recovery.
