North Yorkshire Police have now released further information about the fatal collision near Malton in which three people died.
The collision happened at around 6.08am on Wednesday 27 November 2013, and involved a Ford Focus and a white Citroen van travelling along the B1248 between Wetwang and Malton.
Five people from the East Yorkshire area were travelling in the Focus which was heading in the direction of Malton. Sadly three of the occupants were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. They include a woman and two men.
The two other men travelling in the Focus, both aged in their 30s, were taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.
The Citroen van was travelling in the opposite direction and the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 48-year-old man has been taken to York District Hospital with serious injuries.
Police are appealing for anyone who was travelling along the B1248 between Wetwang and Malton at around 6am today (27 November 2013) and saw either of the vehicles prior to the collision or witnessed the actual crash, to come forward.
Anyone with any information is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101 and pass information to the Force Control Room. Please quote reference number 0052 of 27 November.
The road was closed to allow recovery of the casualties, to enable collision investigators to examine the scene and recover the vehicles. The road reopened at around 4.35pm.
Police are not yet in a position to confirm the identities of the deceased.
