Psychology students at Harrogate Grammar School got an insight into training techniques when a guide dog visited the school.
Rosie was brought in by Janet Champion, from the Guide Dogs Association, who demonstrated how basic psychological principles can be used to train dogs.
The students have been learning about American psychologist, B.F. Skinner, who looked at the impact of rewards on training and behaviour.
The use of rewards to reinforce good behaviour is used to train guide dogs like Rosie, but the techniques have also applied to students in schools and in the treatment of some psychological disorders.
Students found the presentation highly informative as well as enjoyable.
