Harrogate Railway Ladies were looking to make amends from last week facing Brighouse at Station View yesterday (6 October 2013), but Brighouse turned up looking to pile on the pressure and this they did well, going home 1-5 winners.
Railway certainly looked brighter than 7 days ago but had to work hard from the start, with some good passing on the left side Railway managed to get pressure on the Brighouse keeper with crosses from Sandra Clark and Rachel Dorkings but railway failed to put away some early chances.
Brighouse also made there own chances breaking through the midfield and testing Railways keeper, Charlotte Donnelly who got Player off the match. After 15 minutes of fast football Rails captain Ally Purvis crossed in from the right to the feet of Dee Swales who turned to score a fine goal, 1-0.
Brighouse responded well and only 2 minutes later got the equalizer by beating the offside line and slotting into the far corner,1-1. The first half was end to end stuff, Nicola Hadley coming close for Railway with a great shot from 20yrds out, but it was Railways keeper who was at her best to make 3 awesome saves to keep Brighouse out, but the weakness in Railways game was beginning to show.
The second half was a nightmare for Railway as Brighouse constantly forced their way through the midfield and turning the railway defence.
It was the 55th minute that saw Brighouse score their second and the collapse of Railway. Within 12 minutes Railway had gone from 1-1 to being down 1-5 and the worst of all was each Brighouse goal came from the same place, straight down the middle. It was a hard second half for Railway who again looked tired and struggled to compete in the midfield area.
Brighouse deserved the win with their shear determination and hard work and Railway have got 2 weeks to pick them selves up and turn around this bad run when they face Silsden at Station View on 27 October 1-30pm KO.
