Swim school, Mini Swimmers, are expanding into the York area with the start of a new term at the award winning Emperors Health & Fitness Club in the heart of York.
After taking her own children swimming, Elaine Ives saw the benefits of teaching a child to swim and with her background as a competitive swimmer in her teens, she started Mini Swimmers two years ago. Teaching from two pools in Ripon, Elaine has seen her business grow and enjoys the rewards of working with new Mums and Dads, and of course their little ones.
Elaine said:
The job satisfaction is second to none when you see the special bond growing between parent and child in the water. And when a child takes their first tentative strokes to swim independently I feel as proud as the parents!
Expanding any business can be nerve-racking, but with nearly 70% of new parents taking their little ones to swim classes, these are popular activities.
Elaine added:
Teaching your child to swim could save their life and it can be a fun activity to share with your baby introducing them to the sport. No other baby classes will give your child such a life skill.
Equally passionate about teaching swimming, Lindsay Franks joins the Mini Swimmers team to head up the York expansion. Lindsay and Elaine met several years before whilst Elaine was undergoing her swimming teaching qualifications and having stayed firm friends; so when the opportunity to work together came about they dived right in!
Local York Mum and experienced baby and pre-school swimming teacher, Lindsay said:
We are delighted to be working with Emperors Gym as its such a great friendly environment to teach in.
Ripon classes are on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays and York classes will be on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
