Lancaster City came to Station View with an unbeaten record.
It was the home side that started the brightest as they took the lead after just 3 minutes when Sam Jones squared to Colin Hunter for him to drill in a shot from the edge of the area, past the stranded keeper.
Things went wrong for the home side as Dan Thirkell was sent off for a handball inside the area on 15 mins.
The penalty taken by Gary Hunter was well saved by Peter Crook. Despite being down to 10 men they still caused Lancaster City problems and did well to keep the score one nil at half-time.
However 5 minutes into the 2nd half the away side equalised when Mark Jackson latched onto a through ball. Railway gave as good as they got as they held out but with less than 10 minutes to go Glenn Steel finished from close in to give Lancaster an undeserved lead. With Rail pushing forward they were caught on the break and Dan Mahoney made sure of the points when he chipped over the keeper deep into injury-time to give the score a flattering one to the visitors.
