Yorkshire artist donates original pastel to charity

8 August 2013

John Mackie, the world renowned Scottish impressionist artist, has kindly donated a one of his pastels to raise much needed funds for the Huddersfield based Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

The Hospice was set up 12 years ago to support children with life limiting conditions and their families in West Yorkshire and HRH Princess Beatrice of York recently became it’s Patron.

John who lives in Haworth was made aware of the amazing work the Hospice does through the HSBC Bank in Keighley as they continuously raise funds for the charity.

John said:

When Rachael at HSBC told me about the work of Forget Me Not and asked if I would consider donating a print to help raise some much needed funds.

She explained that HSBC would match every £ that is raised so I knew that I had to offer an original pastel for such a worthy cause.

Based on this locality the donated pastel is of the Leeds Liverpool canal at Crossflatts, Bingley.

The pastel itself is 23” x 31”, with a framed size of 35” x 43”.

The pastel can be viewed until Saturday 31st August at McTague of Harrogate, 17-19 Cheltenham Mount, Harrogate HG1 1DW. With a minimum bid of £1,500, sealed bids are welcome until 31st August 4pm, with the highest bidder being notified by 5pm. John Mackie will then present the pastel in person to the winner.

If you are interested in putting in a sealed bid for this John Mackie original pastel please call Paul McTague on 01423 567086 or John Mackie’s agent, Fiona Cartwright on 07850 641461.
