Julian Smith, Member of Parliament for Skipton and Ripon, has been appointed as one of 12 Small Business Ambassadors for the Conservative Party.
The MP will help promote and represent small businesses across Yorkshire, listening to their concerns and feeding them back to the Prime Minister.
The Conservative Party’s ‘Supporting Small Business’ campaign was launched at Downing Street on Wednesday (5 June 2013).
Julian Smith said:
Small businesses are the engine room of our economy which is why I am delighted to have been appointed an Ambassador for them. Having set up, run and grown a business I know just how challenging it can be so I will be doing all I can to ensure the messages I hear from Yorkshire’s small businesses are represented to the Government.
We want to listen to what more we can do to help small businesses have the success we need in order to grow our economy.

I have appointed Matthew Hancock as the Party’s Small Business Champion and twelve business-savvy MPs from around the country as the Party’s Small Business Ambassadors. With this team we will be able to create greater awareness of Government offers and listen to the business community so that we can continue to improve what we are already doing.
