Harrogate Grammar School boasts a variety of talented young sports-persons who play regular sport both in and out of school.
Many students represent their counties in an array of sports from the more traditional school sports such as rugby and netball to those which are less recognised in the curriculum today.
Recently, Hattie Wheat Year 9, has been selected to represent North Yorkshire in not just one, but two sports; netball and hockey, Along with this, Will Murray Year 10, attended the Yorkshire Rugby trails with an ultimatum of been selected to represent his county. He recently found out that he was successful and will now join up with the U15 Yorkshire Rugby squad.
Further to this, Millie Gray Year 9, competed in the North Yorkshire Schools Cross Country competition where she finished in 13th place. Millie then progressed through to the Inter County Cross Country Competition where she represented North Yorkshire English Schools. Millie competed against runners from Cleveland, Durham, Northumberland, Cumbria, finishing 22nd overall.

Sports leaders at Harrogate Grammar School continue to log their hours through school volunteering at events and clubs such as the Primary School Change 4 life clubs. Their commitments have been heavily rewarded recently after Harrogate Grammar Schools sports leaders reached 19th place in the top 100 schools who are nationally taking part in the Step into Sport Volunteering Programme.
To further the success of the work currently undertaken by HGS sports leaders, Harrogate Grammar School Gold Ambassador and Sports Leader, Mia Gair Year 10, has been chosen to attend the National Young Ambassador Celebration Day at Wembley on Wednesday 6th March.
Mia will be joined by her fellow Gold Ambassadors all of which represent the Harrogate Grammar School Sports Partnership. They, alongside a selective group of top school ambassadors from around the country will come together and take part in a variety of workshops hosted by the stars of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
