The MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough, Andrew Jones, was among prestigious guests for the start of British Airways’ flights from Leeds Bradford to Heathrow today (December 10).
Along with business leaders, customers, airport personnel and Olympic boxer Luke Campbell, who won Olympic gold for Britain at the London 2012 Games, Andrew welcomed British Airways back to Yorkshire.
Andrew, who continues to campaign to improve Yorkshire’s travel connections, met the first flight – greeted by a water canon salute from the Fire Service – with Andy Lord, British Airways director of operations and John Parkin, chief executive Leeds Bradford Airport.
Andrew said:
Direct flights to London are important because they will bring new business opportunities for Yorkshire and Harrogate.
This includes making national and international conferences at the Harrogate International Conference Centre much more attractive.
The service will connect Yorkshire to the global network, helping to further stimulate our economic growth.
And this is not just good news for business; the new service will benefit holiday makers as well.
