A Yorkshire brewery is seeing one of its most popular ales “take off” at Leeds Bradford International Airport.
Theakston’s Best Bitter – which is brewed by Masham-based T&R Theakston Ltd – has been chosen by the operators of the Saltaire, a newly-opened bar and eatery within the departures lounge, as one of its select number of locally-brewed real ales.
And, in addition to being served by the pint and half-pint, Theakston’s Best Bitter is also a key ingredient in a number of dishes on the food menu, including steak and ale pie and fish in beer batter.
The new bar – designed as part of an £11m investment programme to improve facilities at the airport – is being operated by SSP, which runs more than 580 units in over 150 travel locations in airports, railway stations and shopping centres in the UK alone.

Theakston’s Best Bitter is proving immensely popular with travellers wanting a last taste of Yorkshire before their flight. It’s taking off very nicely indeed!
