Harrogate Town play hosts to local rivals Bradford Park Avenue today (25 August 2012) at the CNG Stadium.
Town will be looking to bounce back following Tuesday nights narrow 2-1 defeat to Altrincham. There is also have an added measure of spice in this match as Bradford beat us in the semi final of the WRCC last season on this very ground!
The visitors have done well since being promoted into our league via the play-offs last season. They have drawn with Worcester City 2-2 and beaten Vauxhall Motors 3-1. Although not seen as one of the favourites for this league, they have certainly proved that they are more than capable of mixing it with the teams in this league.
There will be quite a few familiar faces on display in the Bradford Park Avenue side, not only are they managed by ex Town player and manager John Deacey, but they have ex players Danny Holland and Richard Marshall in their ranks. Also look out for Town favourite Mark Hume in the dugout as he is now assistant manager for Avenue.
Last Encounter – Harrogate suffered a 3-1 defeat in the semi final of the West Riding County Cup. Chib Chilaka’s penalty had cancelled out Jordan Deacey’s early goal but two more goals in extra time sent Avenue through to the final.
