Charity’s care champions celebrate a century of long-service

Long-serving staff from a Harrogate charity have celebrated a century of caring.

The Carers’ Resource, based in North Park Road, staged an informal garden party to thank all those who had been involved with its work for a decade or more.

Between them, the group of ten has chalked up more than 120 years of meeting the changing and demanding needs of Yorkshire’s growing army of unpaid carers.

The independent charity was founded in 1995 by Anne Smyth. This summer, she is celebrating her 20th anniversary of working for carers – after spending the three years before the launch of the charity as a Carers’ Information Officer at the former North Yorkshire Family Health Services Authority.

Anne Smyth said:

On behalf of the many thousands of carers the charity has helped, I wanted to thank all those who had been part of the journey and contributed to its success for so many years.

Our people are our greatest asset and the charity is fortunate to be able to draw upon such a pool of local expertise and experience, helping us to make a real difference to the lives of so many carers.

The charity also has bases at Ripon, Skipton and Bradford.
