Runners from all over the country entered the James Herriot Trail Race, a moorland route from Castle Bolton in Wensleydale.
It is always a favourite with Nidd Valley Road Runners who were defending their mixed team title this year. With a strong headwind records were not going to be broken and times were down on previous years.
Andy Todd was first back for the club in 64.05 and Carol Morgan was first lady, 67.53, taking third lady overall. Alan Davidson managed to squeeze between them in 66.50 but it was not enough for team victory and missed out by 3 points.
Other Nidd Valley runners were Phil Fernyhough 72.45, Simon Smith 76.55, Brian Sherwood 78.50, Paul Manning 79.06, Helen Gregory 80.39, Emma David 82.36, Sheena Jackson 84.36, Helen Moorse 87.57, Janet Carling 89.24, Jenny Manning 91.59, Annie Burns 92.54, Michelle Smith 93.24 and Judy Greenwood 97.02.
At Harrogate parkrun runners were greeted by a course reversal and runners ran clockwise instead of the usual anti-clockwise. Tony Ledwaba-Chapman ran 22.36 and was parkrun’s runner of the month for July. Rebecca Ventress 27.48 and John Manning 28.49 both ran new pb’s and Sue Reast completed the team with 29.18.
