Harrogate-based Cooper & Hall has chosen quality to boost its quantity surveying team.
The company, which is located at Pannal Business Park, has promoted a former trainee surveyor to the position of QS (Quantity Surveyor), in addition to recruiting a new “apprentice”, taking the team’s strength to eight.
Richard Harrison, who joined Cooper & Hall in 2007 as a trainee, has just completed a five-year, part-time Quantity Surveying degree, graduating with a First Class B.Sc Hons.
Over the next two years, Richard, who has been promoted to QS Level, will be taking the RICS APC, and hopes to become a Chartered Surveyor by the end of 2013.
Naseem Sharif, who is studying for a BSc in Quantity Surveying, has just completed his second year at Sheffield Hallam University, and, for the next 12-months will be learning the practical side of the business.
Cooper & Hall director Phil Cooper said:
Our business is all about quantity and quality, and in Richard and Naseem we have two young quantity surveyors – at different stages in their careers – with outstanding qualities.
We firmly believe in giving those just entering our industry a helping hand. Richard has been with us for the last five years and has worked incredibly hard to get to this stage.
Naseem, on the other hand, is just starting out, but, with Richard as a role model, I know he too will reach his potential and become a first class QS.
Whilst many parts of the construction industry are contracting, I’m delighted that we have been in the very fortunate position of being able to employ not one, but two very talented individuals.
