Thousands of schoolchildren from across Yorkshire descended on the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate to enjoy a hands-on day of countryside fun and education.
The Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s popular Countryside Days are always over-subscribed with coach loads of primary school pupils making the most of opportunities to get close to the animals and learn about farming and the countryside.

As ever, this year’s line up of workshops for the children covered a wide range of traditional crafts and skills, including fly fishing, willow weaving, bread and butter making and dry stone walling.
There were also outdoor demonstrations with gun dogs and sheep dogs, together with their handlers, falconry and there was standing room only at Richard Savoury’s ever-popular Sheep Show, which educates children about different breeds of sheep.
Countryside Days took place on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 June with around 6,000 children taking part.
