Yorkshire based Acceleris Marketing Communications has been shortlisted in three categories in the inaugural Golden Hedgehog Awards, a national awards programme, which recognises and celebrates ‘outstanding campaigns and exceptional talent’ within the PR industry.
‘Celebrations of the Sea’, the world’s first photography exhibition underwater created and delivered by Acceleris on behalf of The Shipwrecked Mariners Society – one of the country’s oldest charities – is shortlisted as the Not for Profit Campaign of the Year.
The unique, national exhibition, sponsored by canned seafood manufacturer John West, was displayed in living aquariums across the UK and featured celebrities and every day people photographed carrying out their ‘day job’ but underwater.
Celebrities and personalities including TV historian Dan Snow, TV chef Mitch Tonks – one of the leading seafood chefs in the UK, Countryfile presenter Ellie Harrison, world champion cliff diver Gary Hunt and UK surfing champion Tassy Swallow all featured in the exhibition, designed to showcase Britain’s reliance on the sea.
The agency has also been shortlisted in two further categories – Media Relations Campaign of the Year and Consumer PR Campaign of the Year – for its launch of the Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer House Hunter iPhone app on behalf of client, BBC Worldwide. The campaign, which generated over 170 articles across national media in its first two weeks of launch and featured broadcast, video production and social media activity, directly boosted sales and saw the app ranked as The Guardian and iTunes’ ‘App of The Week’.
The awards feature 20 categories, plus a Golden Hedgehog Award to reward the winner of winners and a Hoglet Award to celebrate outstanding young communicators.
Louise Vaughan, Director and Head of PR at Acceleris Marketing Communications, said:
At Acceleris, we always strive to deliver high quality, cost effective integrated communications campaigns for all our clients and to have our campaigns recognised nationally is credit to the hard work, imagination and commitment of our team. We are delighted with this short listing and are looking forward hearing the results at the ceremony in March.
The short listing follows a string of recent appointments for the agency including Bauer Media, Bradford based Tong High School and Yorkshire charity Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, which is currently fighting a decision to close the specialist heart unit at the Leeds General Infirmary.
The awards are to be judged by a high-level and independent panel and the ceremony is due to take place at the Etihad City of Manchester Stadium, Manchester on 21 March 2012.
